- USDA reports that food insecurity increased by 30% last year (2022) and is at the highest level since 2014. Nationally, 1 in 7 people and 1 in 5 kids experienced food insecurity.
- The Food Bank is continuing to serve more neighbors than ever before. Currently, we are serving on average 560k neighbors every month, 18% or 85k more than last year, and double pre-pandemic.
- We have provided 45 million meals since July (this fiscal year), averaging 7.5 million every month, an increase of 14% from last year.
- To meet demand we continue to invest in purchased food our neighbors need and want, but we have less resources to do so this year. Our team has made strategic decisions and purchases to acquire the same amount of purchased food as last year while spending $1.5M less.
